I currently have a cable provider...n i was wondering if this gigabit lan thing on a mobo is wht i would connect my cable to and it would just work like that? or do i still need that network card? thx
in that case i always see these numbers like 10/100 or something like that for network cards....wht do they all mean? is there a guide for that? is gigabit lan the i guess...fastest? thanks again
As Cromewell said, the significance of Gigabit is 10/100/1000 speeds where as all others are 10/100. I can't see the difference between them because Verizon is so friggin overated.

The difference is sharing files on the LAN, not download and upload speeds on the Internet. Sharing files across Gigabit with PC's that use gigabit NICs, is significan't.
