Gigabyte 965P-DS3 vs ASUS P5W DH Deluxe

I find this pretty interesting, and cool Numerous tests were done with the Gigabyte and the ASUS motherboards, and the 965P-DS3 was better!

Weird how the P5W DH Deluxe is around $100 more, yet it doesn't perform as good...

IMO Asus has been having problems the last few years. Their boards cost a lot now becuase they say Asus on them, again IMO they aren't worth buying right now.

Yeah. The only thing that the P5W DH Deluxe has that the 965P-DS3 doesn't, is built-in WiFi (I think...). $100~ more is definately not worth it.

Well obviously it uses a different chipset and overclocking abilities and options are different (and its just a different board), but you (and cromewell in previous threads) say there's nothing that really stands out about current C2D boards.

From what I've seen though, the DS3 seems to overclock allendales better, while the P5W does better with conroe.

So why is the GA-965P beating the 975X? It might explain the $100 price increase, but that just makes it even more weird that the 965 is beating the 975X.

The 975 has more features (like dual graphics ports). As for the 965 beating it, I suspect the asus board isn't working quite right

I couldn't see the benchmarks because the bandwidth was exceeded. However I did do some searching and came up with this:

At stock speeds it appears they are neck in neck. It is only when you are overclocking that the Gigabyte pulls out ahead.

I do find it interesting that Gigabyte has finally made a board that isn't a dog. It's about time.

Errm, well, the DS3 seems to get more FPS. However, the P5W DH Deluxe has WiFi. What do you want? FPS or WiFi?

If it was me, I would go with the DS3. It's much cheaper - and does much better.
