You will see very similar performance in a GTX 670 in comparison to a 680, for nearly $100 less. Consider an OC 670.

AMD cards work with intel just as well as they do with AMD cpus, actually because intels are so much faster, they work better with intel cpus.

You will get better performance

It will fit on your mobo perfectly, it is PCIe x16, the same standard as all other modern graphics cards

The gpu and CPU performance are independent of each other, AMD and nvidia work as well as Intel and AMD, which work as well as Intel and nvidia.

Stock speeds don't matter, they are a different chip so cannot be compared just by looking at performance statistics, only by comparing in benchmarks. The 7870 is a stronger card

yep, the gtx660Ti would be faster then an hd7870 (not by much). But it's much more expensive

The hd7870 and the gtx 660 ti are both much stronger, even a hd7850 is a way better.
The hd 7850 is 13-15% faster, the hd7870 22-23%.

They are as near as makes no difference the same and the 660Ti is substantially more, so I don't get why this was mentioned

The 7870 is noticeably better than the 660, the 660Ti is near enough on par with the 7870. The best card for you right now is the 7870
