Gigabyte or Asus 1151 motherboard?

I have decided to build a new PC and not being to overclock too well with my current rig.

I wanted to get an ASUS motherboard but on newegg and Amazon people are killing them for poor support and DOA boards.

Can anyone make a suggestion?

I was thinking about getting this GIGABYTE board

Definitely Gigabyte and a good choice. However, I'll be getting the gaming 3 or 6 when I upgrade in about a year.

It's a cheaper option, if you think this is a good board then ill go with this. I am going to put a 6600k and 16 GB DDR4 ram. What do you think?

They generally have cheaper prices on CPUs, and you save a few bucks on the motherboard in a bundle on top of that. I believe the board you listed is part of the bundle. With an i5 it comes to around $385 pre-tax.

I need to pick up CPU + Mobo + Ram but yes that CPU is very cheap before tax

After looking again, its a toss up between the gaming 5 and 6 now. I like the idea of dual lan's. But that combo deal at Microcenter is a great deal, would definitely get it.

It is night and DAY compared to my old rig. I think my SSD is even faster and my usb 3 is finally fully functional!

Awesome stuff Matt! I noticed my boot times improved when I went from SATA 6GBps on an ASUS P7P55D-E to an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 and then again from the P8 to a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H.

I like both Gigabyte and ASUS, it's hard to go wrong with either in my opinion and I've owned both but I've been using Gigabyte for a lot of my more recent builds. I always tended to favour ASUS a few years ago.
