Gigabyte P35-DS3L or eVGA 650i ultra?

one supports SLI and the other doesn't, that's pretty much what it comes down to. and the evga looks like it has onboard raid.
 
Not sure, but I think you may be wrong. They both ahve one pci x16 slot. Your probably thinking of the 680i, the 650i's bigger brother.

I was thinking of Asus 650i board, It has sli. Yeah they're pretty much the same just different chipsets. The p35 chipset is better suited for 45 nm cpu's though.

EDIT: do you know if either of these are picky with memory? I'm getting 2x1gb Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800.

Asus mobos are known to be picky with ram. I would go with Gigabyte board as far as this choice goes.
 
the gigabyte fsb will clock higher. 650i goes 8x/8x pcie, which is fine for current gen cards.

sli 8800gts might be nice, but a 9800 gtx would prolly be better

gts? what are you nuts? the GT is better. and 9800gtx? there is no such thing yet. also that 650i board doesn't have SLI as previously mentioned above.

sorry i mean it as in saying 8800gtxs , like 8800gt's :)

misunderstanding

and the 9800 gtx is supposed to be out in november unless the postpone it. its goona have aa terafflop of processing power and a frame buffer like the 360, so free 4x AA

not completely sure on it but ive heard many rumours about the "g98" ?

They're exactly just that. Rumors spread by some guy on a forum speculating what Nvidia's 9 series might be like. It's all bunch of hooplah.

hmm, lets hope the r670 is good then. im doubting it, being so similar to the 2900xt

and sorry im skimming through posts i saw 650i and sli so i assumed one of the sli boards.

no doubt take the p35.
