Gigaflop??

i dont think thats the answer he was looking for...
How else does one interpret the question

Its how many math calculation your cpu can perform
Unfortunately, the zeal outweighs the facts. MatrixEVO was correct by stating "floating point" whereas you did not.

I was trying to explain it to him where he would be able to understand it easier, otherwise he would probably ask what a floating point is.

That exactly is what makes your reply incorrect. "math calculations" include integer operations (which are done significantly faster than floating point ops) and integer ops are not considered when talking about FLOPS.

Since you have so little faith in Apokerton's knowlege of computers, we'll defeine a floating point [op] as a "mathematical calculation that involves decimals" Having to keep track of the location of the decimal and how it is affected is what causes the performance drop
