Pentium D 915 Presler 2.8Ghz Vs. Pentium 4 541 3.2Ghz

Pentium D is dual core = 1meg L2 Cache x2 = 2meg L2 Cache
Pentium 4 is single core, probably 1 meg L2 cache.

The Pentium D actually has 4mb L2 cache i think... 2 x 2mb, while the P3 only has 1mb...also, the Pentium D has 2 cores, obviously, and the P4 only has one....while AMD would still be better, the Pentium D is the better of the two, by far.

I have no experience in AMD, not at all. Could you tell me how AMD works like, the Mobo requirements. Of course, the socket is a factor , but what is MT/s and Hyper Transport. Yes, it's an idiot question. Is AMD more budgeted and quicker?

In the generation of the Pentium 4/D, AMD definitely takes the performance crown with their 64s and X2s.

the pentium d as a bigger cache and is dual core, and has EM64T (intels version of 64 bit)

i would pick the pentium d over the p4

I would pick the Pentium D over the Pentium 4, but a low end AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor would be best.
