Glitchy Mouse at times

Every few days my mouse will get kind of laggy. It is a wired laser gaming mouse so its not dying batteries. I am wondering if its some kind of infection possibly.

I have run malwarebytes, hijackthis, with nothing really coming up. Does this sound like a possible infection?

Just the mouse is laggy? What kind of material do you have it set on? mouse pad, desk? Does it have a shine to it?
 
Its a 60 dollar razor gaming mouse, wired, with a gaming mouse pad. No shine, not dirty. Randomly the mouse gets glitchy and after a few virus scans, reboots, its fine again. Scans never really find anything great though.

When the mouse acts up the cursor is not jumping around but more just slowed movement. As I drag the mouse left and right it will not cover as much space as it normally does and has a slight vibration to the cursor. laggy, glitchy?
 
Have you tried a different mouse? Is there a specific driver for that mouse? Check to see if there is an updated driver. Could be software or possibly the whole system is lagging, not just the mouse.
 
The system is brand new and up to date.
I5 3.3ghz
8gb ram
64 bit OS

I dont believe its the system as I can close all programs and it still does it for a while with nothing open.

Its not really like a lag either. Lag will have the mouse kind of skip beats. start at one spot then reappear a few inches away. this is slowed movement and the cursor has like a vibration to it. I can be pulling left and right and it will have slight up and down movement as well.
 
Have you tried a different mouse yet? You may want to uninstall the mouse in device manager and reboot and see what happens.
