GNOME and KDE

I have a doubt about which Linux OS to install. On one hand I have Ubuntu and in the other hand I have Kubuntu. One runs a GNOME user interface and the other one uses a KDE user interface. Which one is better? I would like your opinion.

Which one have more software for developers? Which one is more stable?

Hope you can help me answer my questions.

it is really personal preference. IMO KDE is a bit more flashy and GNOME is more simple. The 3rd party applications are the same for the most part although they might be called something different. Some of the bigger programs are compatible for both (like Kdenlive. Made for KDE, works just fine GNOME)

I like GNOME better but I just customized it with Compiz and made it a bit flashier.

Thanks! How about the 3rd party applications for developpers like NetBeans, or a application for PHP or MySQL??? Can I find that stuff on Kubuntu???

I have used Ubuntu and I will like to know if Kubuntu also has a Software Center to downloas applications by category.

Kubuntu has it's own version of software center but it will operate a bit different than the one in Ubuntu. From what I read about it you can install the Ubuntu Software Center in Kubuntu and it should still work.

Any variant of Ubuntu (Ubuntu Kubuntu Edibuntu Xbuntu) are all based off of the Debian Packages. So any 3rd party software that offers a .deb file for instillation will work for those operating systems.

I think Gnome as a lower overhead therefore you get better performance over KDE, though that could just be because I like Gnome better...not sure?

Thanks a lot for your opinion. I like the the KDE user interface more, the colors and all that. Ubuntu with GNOME looks awesome but Kubuntu with KDE has something that it's so cool to me... Maybe I'm just being delusional...
