Go ahead and laugh...

I have never used my PC to make DVD's that are viewable on a DVD player... What do I need to do? This is my own vid.... Nothing illegal....

Thanks

depends on your dvd player. some can play only dvd some can play any types of files that computers can play ( divx player )

DVD players native format is .VOB files, and the dvd player reads all those files from two root folders. AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS, so all files must be in the proper TS folder and then you burn it, and make sure it is in .VOB format.

Google can answer the rest of your questions.

Thanks Guys,

I am also going to Lightscribe... So what type of program will I need for that?

Well, if you are going to LightScribe, your DVD Drive have to be able to do it in the first place. As for the steps in making a label for the CD, here is a link:
http://www.lightscribe.com/gettingstarted/index.aspx?id=276

Your CD/DVD have to be LightScribe compatible I guess. I don't think you can use any DVD that you can find.

*EDIT*
Also, in my case, since I am using NTI CD/DVD-Maker, when I start the program it will ask me what I will be making. So basically if I want to make a DVD that can be played in a normal DVD player, I will choose Video DVD as oppose to Data DVD. I am not sure whether Nero has the same or similar options.

Another thing is that my brother once told me that DVD-R can be played by most DVD player while DVD+R can only be played by recent DVD player (not the older ones). So you might want to keep this in mind when you are burning the movie for your folks.

I have two new Samsung SATA's with lightscribe and have installed the firmware... Yeah and there are probably a lot of older DVD players out there too. Yeah, Nero has it all...

I have Nero and it's pretty good... I am satisfied... Now I get to test drive it in a week I can't wait...

I am starting a new business scheme type thing:rolleyes: I am doing this as a favor for an old friend, too. But, building a reputation and getting paid in the process....

We got the same drive, im warning you now that lightscribe isn't the fastest thing in the world so... be expecting about 20 minutes to finish a disk :P

I have a philips DL writer and i make dvds/multiple dvd's in a jiffy.
Thats my line of work everyday, dvd/vcd/conversion/authoring , well nearly everyday i make at least 3-4 dvds
and it's stinking time consuming, but i never trust Nero to make my dvds
