Going to build. Would love your suggestions

Hey everyone. I've been lurking on these forums for a little bit now to get familiar with the new tech.

My last computer was a Dell xps laptop I bought in 2005 and my one and only build was for my grandparents probably about 10 years ago.

I'm pretty much going to need everything new as my last desktop is a Dell dimension 8300 and there isn't going to be many useful parts on it.

I don't really do heavy gaming on my pc's anymore due to ps3/xbox, BUT I LOVE Microsoft flight simulator and am partially wanting a new computer in anticipation for ms flight. So Im going to need a pretty good gaming machine. That is probably the most intense thing I'd need it to do. The other main activities I'll use it for are online poker, watching movies and Internet browsing.

I've pretty much decided on an i5 since reading that there isn't much more benefit in an i7. Unless someone can convince me to go to AMD or an i7.

I'd really like to not go over $1000 since I'm going to need to also buy an LCD and all new accessories (keyboard, mouse, speakers).

Any help or suggestions you guys have is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Does the 1000 budget include the keyboard, mouse and/or monitor?

Not really although it would be nice to not go much over 1k. I think 1200 is my tops with everything. But I'm also willing to wait a month or two to save a little more to have a killer computer that will last.

Linkin's got the right idea. A few ways to save money, though, if you choose. You could:

1. Look at the coolermaster 912.

Takes $40 off your budget. It's a good case, but the corsair is a little better.

2. The board he chose has 2 slots for two graphics card so in the future, you could crossfire/sli. If you know you will not get two cards ever, get this board:

Will save you $50.

3. Your motherboard choices do have a sound onboard, so you could get away with a sound card if you feel like the onboard sound will do. If you decide later that you want to get a dedicated card for sound, its an easy install. I do have a separate one and it is very nice, but if you're strapped for cash, you can just use the sound onboard. Will save you $37.

4. Since you said the only thing you would use this computer for gaming wise is FSX, so that nice of a keyboard/mouse may not be needed. You could take the money you save downgrading those and put that towards a nice joystick for flying.

If you have money left over that you can spend on this, spend it on the video card. That'll get you the most increase in FPS.

I really think I want to get the i5 2500 instead of the amd. Can someone recommend some good cost effective mobos?
