Alright, like the topic says, I'm going to build a conroe system.....but I need a bit of info..

First off: I'm going with the E6400 C2D and I'm looking for a --GOOD-- Mobo' for it.

Reqs: I want it to be able to support SLi (dual 7900gtx's)

Ok so here's the deal: I was looking at some mobos from asus w/ the nforce 570 SLI NB, and then saw that they used DDR2 667 for mem. Kingston or Corsair (The 2 brands i fell safe w/) do make ne highperformace 2x1gb sticks. Will a mobo w/o an "SLi" Northbridge be able to support sli? I never really got that........ (all the other mobos use DDR2 800...) Help Appreciated!

are you looking at the mobo from my sig? it does support sli, im running 2 7600's on it now and it runs fine. not the best overclocker tho if thats what your trying to do...cant get the fsb of the mobo past 330mhz. so its def not the board for overclocking. i could only get my conroe to about 2.3ghz stable (e6300). so...great board tho, although i dont think asus really supports it much even tho its a new board. its almost impossible to find the page for it on their website. good solid board tho if you want a 5 series chipset and sli.

ohh and i think you can use ddr2800 on it. ive read that some people have done it fine. it just is really picky from what ive heard. and i mean REALLY picky

ya thx, but i forgot to mention that im lookin 4 a board to oc to teh extreme..... thats why i want kingston or corsair....which they dont make in 667....and i need sli to.....lol.....but, ya thats the board i was lookin at, they have a 220$ ver too, but still uses 667....anymore help from ne1 will help! Thx!

ya i kno it says it uses the ddr667 thats why i bought 667 for mine, but ive read that many people get 800 running in the board, its just picky about what kind it wants so its really a tossup if itl work lol.

ya but if you want to seriously overclock i would not get this board. im already looking for an upgrade. I want a new board already lol. But ill probably wait. My xmas list is gonna be so long. for the first time i will actually ask for something i want. Now i just gotta decide between new monitor, 7900gt, motherboard, ahhh so many choices and i can only pick one.

if you can find a good ocing board for conroes and has sli support let me know, id def be int in getting one

Man you must have a lot of money on your hands. here a list of C2D MOBO's with SLI.

As you can see there are TONS to choose from. Take you pick. How much you planning to spend? I can help find low prices on stuff, I know tons of places a lot people here don't know about or don't use because there likings are to only a few popular web sites, but the sites very few people know about are the ones that have the best deals. Someone wanted a dual core processor but couldn't afford it, I found it for $100 less then what he was saving up to pay. Give me a list and I'l be happy to assist you. You are doing a SLI build huh? Check this out before you do so.

thanks man. ill prob just stay with my mobo. its ocd now and she runs great. i just love to build stuff and tweak stuff, so once im done i just get ancy to do something else or do it better. i def dont have the money to spend, i just wish i did i guess. i prob should stop spending and start thinking about the future. it just seems like i can never make enough money. especially not at the 8 bucks an hour everyone wants to give you here. 5 bucks after taxes sux...especially when you already have bills. i just wish sometimes i guess. prob should stop spending. my rig runs fine so i guess i dont need a new mobo to see how far i can oc my proc...i wish tho. but i guess everyone does huh???idk sorry just rambling
