Well long time lurker. Love some of the threads on here, so finally got around to making an account. I'll just cut to the chase. I am a bit of a fan of the older laptops. More specifically, the heavy ones. With the new laptops, I always feel like i'm going to break it while opening it. Are there any new laptops out there with the heft that I'm looking for? I know a custom laptop could fulfill this but cost is also somewhat of a problem. Other specifications of this would be I need a i7, a Nvidia graphics card of at least 700 series, and if it also had an AMD processor that would be great. Thank you all for your help, and have a good day

As above, AMD doesn't make i7's and you'll have a hard time finding an AMD laptop that has an Nvidia card. In terms of "heftiness" any of the higher end gaming laptops will be plenty hefty. I personally like MSI's gaming laptops. Asus and a few other brands are also worth looking in to. What's your budget, uses for the laptop, and screen size preference?

I apologise for my ineptness. im more into the coding and gaming aspect. im not too tech savvy with thid newer stuff.
My budget is probably $650 at best. I'll be using it for light coding, gaming (Overwatch, WoW, DOTA 2, Solitaire. You know, graphics intensive stuff) Screen size doesnt much matter to me. Im not looking for anything top of the linr, and im quite willing to set graphics down.

Whether or not tgis maters, my current laptop is a Compaq of some sort I bought in 2004. I would tell you what kind, but the serial number melted off from the overheating fans. When it does boot up it runs windows XP
i've been browsing other laptops but havent bought one

MSI is $50 cheaper after MIR and slightly lighter.
Asus with 7200 rpm HDD.

But I will say it will down to warranty/ after-sell?
Which company is better in US?
