Good $50 camcorder?

I'm not sure about the brand while I can point you at a review easy enough. http://www.gizmoactive.com/M-Digigr8-Digital-Video-Camera.html

The U.S. 4.0 MP Digital wasn't the thing to go by but the Digigr8 model number better seen in the enlarged photo. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...PageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012#ebayphotohosting

For what is being asked there you might want to consider looking over the $159.99 retail slashed down to $59.99 sale price seen at http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/item.asp?PIN=51003

Remember the $40 seen there is only the starting bid. You can order new and unopened for just a little bit more if you like the model itself.

looks a little sketchy its actually only a 2mp cam instead of the advertised 4mp
but hey its 50 bucks right?

It looks far better then the $50 pieces of crap sold at Walmart! Those often come without a software disk included while featuring RCA phono or usb hookup. Generally a good make can run $200+ upto $400 at a first glance.

That doesn't show the framerate, you want one that does at least 24FPS, that one is probably 10-15FPS.

For a quick buy at a low price I would take a gamble by going for the sale price seen on the link I posted earlier if it was still available there. They just updated that with the no longer available message. But there are other brands in the same price range at the same vendor seeing probably with the same or similar lower end quality. http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/search.asp?GUID=4B3E1CFE-3245-478A-971E-4C1EE135C1D8&search=Digital%20Camera

If you simply can't spend $200 plus to get into something worthwhile that would be an option for a simple quick grab at a low price. At least you would see a return/exchange policy on anything there over risking at EBay.

Well there was like a 3 megapixel one that looked just like it, just worse, advertised as 15FPS... so...

I would simply advise shopping around a bit for sale prices/discounts on one that would be better for you in the long run if you're not in rush for just anything. You may just find something you will want but already spent on ... oops! The mark down from $160 to $60 suggests that model is being discontinued and simply realizing a clearance price.

That's what you need to watch for, you can't expect a quality camcorder for $50 though. I bought my Canon HF100 which records video up to 1920x1080 at either 60i or 30p, but that cost $650.

I picked up a cheap mini DV cam corder for $200 a few years ago. It recorded at DVD res at around 30 fps (not exactly sure, but looks smooth enough). For $50...try looking at webcams.

Too bad you couldn't patch a web cam into a vcr. Then you would see 6hrs. of tape available for recording. But then that depends on where and what you are trying to see recorded.

A quality camcorder will see good fps rates to start with while a cheapie simply sees low rates and a typically raspy playback once you have something recorded. To use a vhs system as an analogy tape something in extended long play slp or elp mode and then the same in the sp mode and watch both. The sp playback will automatically see the higher degree of signal strength and realize a higher quality right off.

Walmart carries some cheapie jobs there like the pocket corders and such. With a digital not tape type analog camcorder you will want to make sure you get a large enough memory card. Don't forget that little item.

That's your choice there. The heartland link posted earlier as well as other online vendors will see other makes and models for slightly more unopened. When bidding on anything used the term to remember is just that "used" and in uncertain condition.
