It's a decent setup, but nothing out of the ordinary. Your not planning on playing any kind of new games are you?

hmm, nothing super, just things like Freelancer and some older 2003 EA Sports games which run OK on even my integrated graphics computers.

i have a portable 5400RPM and its slow, but i dont know how you would change that unless you wanted a new OS and everything, and you got a good 7200RPM laptop HDD.

don't worry too much about the hdd speed, the newer 5400rpm hdd will run just about as fast as the older 7200 rpm hdd. 7200 is ideal but when 5400 is the only option you should be fine. My laptop has a 5400 rpm hdd and its fine for me.

So, slower hdd means a noticable slowdown in opening ordinary files? Or, does it only affect games or video etc.?
