Good defense for my new PC

Can you suggest me a security software or anti-virus software, that will provide total protection for my PC,
from virus
phishing
malware
rootkit
good firewall
hacking
etc.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free antivirus software. Very lightweight, and not annoying.

Windows Firewall is on by default...no worries there.

If you do manage to get something, Malwarebytes will probably remove it.

Phishing is more focused on tricking the user than hacking their system...just don't click on suspicious links.

I have been using avast for almost a year now and it has been good to me. on the side, have malwarebytes too. I just love it when im pop up free because of malware bytes.

I have malwarebytes, Is there any original software available that can be used for total security, other than freeware.

Kapersky is pretty good, so I hear.

Honestly though, I don't see a reason for it unless you spend all of your time looking up porn and downloading free smilies. :/

I will be downloading Games, videos. But before connecting the internet, my PC was working fine, but when I started using the internet on it, lots of viruses took over my PC even though I had free anti-virus software.

Nothing is absolutely fullproof. But to have more protection, you would want a paid intenet security program such as Kaspersksy or ESET/NOD32. Installed software like Spywareblaster and Spywareguard will help with systems that are only running free security software.
