Good Idea? Please give feedback!

Hey guys! Currently i have a Nvida GTX 660, 16 Gigs Ram, 2x500 GB HDD's, Intel i5-2320 @3.0 GHz, and no idea what mother board xD. What i am thinking about doing is keeping my GFX card and ram and getting pretty much a whole new pc. I am going to add my gtx 660 and my 16 gigs of PNY ram to this: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor, MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard, Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive, Inwin GT1 Black ATX Mid Tower Case, Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply. Would this turn out to be a good build? Thanks for the feedback!

'Upgrading' the CPU is not a good idea because the FX-6300 is slower than your i5 so actually you'd be downgrading, see here: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/699?vs=363 (compared to an i5 2400 because Anandtech didn't have the 2320 but they're very similar.

The other upgrades seem like good ideas. Why not go for a 2TB disk and maybe a Corsair CX600M PSU for your GTX 660? Or with the money you save on not downgrading to an FX-6300 you could spend on a nicer GPU - GTX 960 perhaps?

The case looks OK. There are better ones out there. What style do you like when it comes to cases?

Sounds like a complete side-grade that really won't net you anything.

What are you trying to accomplish anyway?

Personally you could just drop an SSD into your system and observe a noticeable 'general productivity' type of increase.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! @spirit the whole reason i am doing this is just to get rid of my old system as its almost 3 years old. Any powerful cheap processors you recommend? And ill probably just keep the gfx card and ram i have and throw it into this build as i dont play super graphic demanding games (csgo mostly) and this 660 seems to run it fine (oh the gfx card and ram are pretty much new about 6 months old). Thanks!

Not worth it. Your i5 is faster than all of the budget CPUs out there and it's also not worth the money or time upgrading to a newer i5 or an AMD FX-8320.

@spirit so keep my processor, gfx card, and ram and just get new everything else and maybe an SSD? Thanks! :^)

Yeah but get a 2TB HDD (since your 2x500=1TB anyway) and a Corsair CX600M and es get an SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB would be a good choice.

What power supply do you currently have?

Throwing your existing card into a newer build will net you the same performance, so no real gaming gains from whatever you would spend..

you graphics card is a tad weak. Most of your parts haven't changed much in price in the last few years. Desktop upgrading is on a bit of a standstill at the moment. Basically the only thing that is cheaper now than 2 years ago is a new video card and a SSD, along with maybe a bigger HDD.
