That is fairly good.
However, I do have few opinion

motherboard: I suggest go for Asus/ MSI/ Gigabyte

LCD: That acer only have D-Sub. Better get other cheap one with DVI.

DVD burner: LG GH22LS30 OEM is just $26, why buying Asus retail?

Speaker: I would personally opt for Logitech for PC speaker..

OS: Do you really need ultimate? I think Premium is enough for most user. Also go for OEM version is a lot cheaper. So the rest of $$, go for upgrade to E8400

I agree, except why go for the E8400? Just save the money from the Retail Vista version. It's a family computer afterall. Gotta save money! :D

if you want this to run good for years to come spend the extra money and get the e8400 because its far better. and any of those 3 r pretty good for around that price. asus probably is the best though

I agree, apart from your comments about the Biostar MoBo - it's been aclaimed as one of the most overclockable boards to date, reaching a 555mhz FSB ina test by CustomPC.
