my pc is on 24/7, the psu that i'm using is just a regular 320W. it makes noise frequntly, so i figured out that i need a new power supply. but i don't know which one to get, i wanted a higher W regular no neon/fansy psu:) <p>478 celeron d 2.93, 1gb samsung samsung ddr(1stick,highdensity), nvidia mx4000, 2x maxtor diamondplus 9, 1 dvd+/- rom, gigabyte 8s648fx-rz. thx.

i like the rosewill one, but there's no space in my case for the top fan to suck in air. i think $40 is enough for a good psu:)

Going cheap comprimises the safety/life of your computer, but hey you're the one making the gamble not me. Anything below $50 is usually way too cheap to be reliable, you just can't build a quality PSU with that kind of money. I'd be looking to spend at least $75, but the best PSU's can be $150 and up.

If you jsut want one for running your computer 24/7, and have no desire to overclock, or add demanding hardware, than a $60+ PSU should last you many years. Of course stuff goes on sale too, grab it when its cheaper.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817182015 - This is cheaper, but has great specs. I'd trust it for normal operation but not overclocking.

by the way, i had oc my celeron to 3.6 before(very stable, ran sisoft sandra, pcwizard 2005) coolermaster cooling+2 80mm fan, currently back in 2.93, but it won't go higher than 3.7 is that because of the psu?

It could be a PSU problem, but more than likely that's just the Mobo/CPU limit, that's a pretty big overclock as it is.

my pc is sounding like a harrier jet, currently 1x80mm exhaust on back, cooler master quite solution for my celeron and another 80mm uder my hdds. the case is vibrating all the times as i can feel/hear it's happening. i had unplugged teh 2x80mm before, quited down alot, but cpu reaches 64 as idle temp. any solutions to make it quitter?
