good processor?

the processor is fine, but seriously, if your motherboard supports the 775 socket then get the new Core 2 Duo, if it doesnt, get a new Pentium 4 for 939, or w/e socket ur motherboard is!

ok well im looking into something cheap... like under $110. where can i find out if i can support the core duo:confused:

I doubt the motherboard has an Intel P965 or newer chipset.

It's decent, but I would highly recommend a Core 2 Duo, or at least a Pentium D.

If you're building a whole new system and can't afford more then that, I would look into the A64 line, since they are much better in games then the P4 is.

where is a good place to find out if i can support it??? why are they soo much better than a pentium 4?? does the ghz mean everything as far as preformance? what is a good thing to look for?

You cant use Ghz anymore to compare how good a processor is, the P4, C2D, A64, and some other processors use different architectures, which means that each of them perform far differently (for better or worse), if run at the same speed.

You have a socket 478 motherboard, and are limited to CPUs with a 400Mhz bus. You'll need to replace the board before getting a modern processor.
