Good RAM? Good Deal?

The first link takes a look at the 4-5-4 timings and the heat spreaders while the second offers the faster 4-4-4 timings an oc capabilities.

I probably won't be looking to overclock, is it worth it to get the second one?

And that is good RAM right?

Are you a serious gamer? If you are get the XMS2-6400 TWIN2X for $399.99
if you are not a serious gamer, 2GB isnt need unless you run with Vista, which is going to be a long time.

The first set is enough, you will be easily able to set it to 4-4-4 under standard clocking

I am a serious gamer, but $399 is a little over my budget.

I need 2 gigs of RAM and I think the one I selected is real good quality.... top of the line? No but enough for a serious gamer.

Oh really? Just being the occasional gamer and working with some resource demanding apps is enough to chew memory up. The 2gb of ram here are split between two channels. That's 1gb x 1channel in dual channel mode while multitasking. Video capturing, burning dvds, and multimedia will use memory.

A high end gaming machine will start off with 2gb on the newer boards that will handle from 8gb upto 16gb. OCZ is a premium brand. But some have noticed problems with it on Asus boards for some reason. Corsair, Kingston, Crucial, and Mushkin are seemingly more compatible to Asus if you are going with brand for the new build.
