Im downloading 3DMark05 right now and I was just wondering what are the ranges for the benchmark scores for poor, good, and smokin'.

p.s. should I be testing my system in 3DMark06 even though I dont have 256MB of dedicated memory?

It really depends on your system, and what it's being used for. You can compare your score with others on the futuremark website (there's also a thread on it here on computerforum.com), to get an indication of how you perform.

yea actually most users don't score 4000 in 3dMark06... or 8000 in 05... but if you're a bit of an enthusiast then you've probably got a good enough video card to get such scores. i mean i bought a 7800gt which cost me like $300 at the time, it wasn't too long ago, and im scoring what he calls "average" yet, i can play any game i like at maxed settings, including f.e.a.r., COD2, HL2, and the like. i wouldn't worry about what you score in 3dmark's because they call it "futuremark" for a reason.
btw, what did you score?

I got a 2200 in mark03(demo) and 4052 in mark05(demo).
but the thing is, I bought DOOM3 last night and it runs flawlessly on maxed out setting. Should I be able to run a game like that with scores like I got, or were the scores skued somehow because of the dual core processor?
