good software for hd inspection.

hey guys, my hd is making some scary noises, is there any program to find out whats wrong with the hard drive?
 
I've had drives that make all kinds of noises, but passed every test I threw at it... It really depends what's going on with the drive.

Probably the best route is to check the HD manufacturer's webpage for their software.
