Im slowely building a computer that im going to use for musical purposes(production/recording) I dont know what kind of a sound card i want but i am looking for Sp/dif in/on it. Any ideas???

why not get something that's designed for your useage and get a motu ultralight or something similar.
sound cards for gaming/general use have poor a/d converters
something like the ultralight would give you the benefit of 96khz+ input, plus onboard effects for protools
not to mention 10 inputs, 14 outputs, and integrated servo management for queing multiple decks/sources for realtime mixing/mastering
i guess it depends on what you're planning on doing
do you have a studio? or are you just f'ing around?

i have a studio, so when i do buy an interface i would be looking for more inputs. I figured a better sound card would produce a better overall sound.

Go to Sweetwater.com or zzsounds.com they have really good cards.
