Hey, I'm looking at buying a new gaming PC for myself and my YouTube channel, since my old one is crap that doesn't handle 3D very well, ie. it doesn't run smoothly.
I was wondering if these specs would be ok for gaming. Keep in mind that I have a very low budget for this computer since I don't make much money.

Specs:
Processor: Dual-core; 2-3 GHz (preferably an Intel)
Graphics card: 1 GB memory
Memory:4GB of RAM
Hard drive: 512GB HDD

Thanks for your input and suggestions on improving it. I'd like to keep the cost under $1000 if possible.

ghz does not really matter. memory can be more, id recommend 8 as long as budget allows, and a ssd with a harddrive for storage. graphics cards can use more memory now so id recommend 2Gb for most gaming purposes.

K thanks :) Memory is probably the cheapest thing to buy when you're building a computer anyway, so there's be no problem going higher. I'd probably need more in any case, since I'll be doing all my video rendering on that computer as well.

And actually, I have to disagree with you on the whole processor speed thing. It is at least as important as the RAM, because tells how many operations the CPU can do in a second. Having a higher speed means it can do logic faster, which ends up at a higher frame rate if the game allows it.

clockrates are meaningless when you start looking at Instructions per clock. if it can do 1 instruction per cycle and does 3 ghz, while another cpu can do 2 instructions per cycle and runs at 1.5 ghz they will perform the same. and with multi core processors it becomes even less of a factor...

You've got to go way higher for a gaming computer. let me know if you want a list of good parts. Also let me know our money limit.

You can get a beast for 1k, what your talking about is closer to 500, at most. I can post a build up in a bit for like 750, but it'll be a few hours probs

i woudent go for a dual-core for that money.
you say keep it under 1000, so for that money you will have a quad-core and ssd also.

look at this

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.98 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($99.00
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($279.99
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case ($51.52
Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V

Total: $964.43

that would by an asome pc.
maybe prices are different where you live but then you look for athor parts, this is just an inpression what is possible for under 1000k.

He wants to keep it low and thats not a full build, need a mobo and operating system.

Check if you live near a microcenter, they have good deals

i forgot to put the motherbord with it, its incleded in the price so that wont be a problem.

Ok.

If you go for a dual-core, definitely get an i3. But for the same sort of cost you could go for an AMD FX-4300 which is a quad-core and can be overclocked. Worth thinking about. Though the i3 is a fantastic little chip.

1GB of V-RAM will be fine for gaming if you don't game on a resolution higher than 1080p. The V-RAM on the card itself though is not as important as the GPU. For example, if you got a 1GB 6670 and a 1GB 7770, even though the cards have the same amount of memory, the 7770 would smash the 6670 because it has a stronger GPU.

RAM: May as well go for 8GB 1600MHz now. It's so cheap anyway. Get 1866MHz if budget allows, but 8GB is more than enough.

Hard drive: So long as you don't plan to store an awful lot on it, should be OK. I tend to recommend 1TB drives for builds I configure for people now though. You want a 7200 RPM disk with 32MB or 64MB of cache ideally.

you can also buy mine, lol.

It would be better if you went for a cheaper processor and a more powerful graphics card instead.

Since we don't know his budget (other than it needs to be 'low' - so I assume anything more than about 500 is too high) he can't really configure him builds.

thats also possible he can go for the 7870 of club3d thaiti ore higer, but also the prossesor makes a differents in gaming, but not as much as the graphiccard, so he has to find the wright combo.
and if he dont overclock he could take the non k 3570

mayby but then he has to put it right here, when i read it needs to by under 1000 then i think that he has a 1000 to spend.
when he has 500 to spend then he will probbely say under 500

You should be able to get a fx6300, decent mobo, hd7870, decent psu, 1tb hdd, nice case and all. You have a monitor and all the peripherals right?

I'm sorry guys, I made a typo. I'm not building, I'm buying one. That might have thrown some of you off. As for the people wondering about the low cost, READ THE MAIN POST! I told you that u don't make very much money, as in zip. None. Zero. The only money I have for this is what my dad will give me since I'm only 13. He may not even give me 1G to spend.

oke, but still if you buying 1 and want advice its better if you now youre budget, and because you tell under 1000k some think its that what you have to spent.
for 300k you are not buying a game pc.
so what is what you dad will give you.
