good value for money in a GPU

Sorry if this gets asked a lot but my ati 4870 is starting to look a bit old now.

When I said value for money, I mean, top end before prices start getting stupid, I'm not looking for buying for several months (maybe up to a year) but in my experience it pays to get in touch with whats going on in the hardware world to look around at any new releases, especially with the rise of Direct X 11 (I must have this for crysis 2).

With my experience of drivers, I had a lot of issues with my last ATI card where it kept bluescreening my PC several times a week and it took about 6 months for a driver update to fix it.

That said, I wont hold it against them too much but if its a close call I'll prob fall on the nvidea side.

So that done and said, what's looking good in the GPU world at the moment (benchmarks are nice :D if you happen to know of any that is)

If you are not buying for up to 6 months to a year there is really no sense in telling you anything as hardware changes dramatically over a couple months. In 6 months new cards will be out most likely.

Are you having any problems with your card now? The one you have is decent.

it's ok, but it can't draw shadow detail very well in WoW for example and playing crysis on high settings doesn't work (yea, sure its fine for the first level, but as soon as you have 20+ guards running around explosions happening and fire detail going on... forget it)

Also, I was looking for what cards are being released, I don't want to buy a card now if two month later the next set of cards are coming out with a signifigant upgrade.

Also, I like to run at 1920 x 1200

Then I would wait for recommendations about a couple months before you decide to buy as new cards are coming out periodically.
