Google has made its reputation - and a lot of money - by not making many mistakes.

But the company admits it may have erred this week, after launching its highly publicized browser to compete with Microsoft's dominant Internet Explorer. When "Chrome" was finally released on Tuesday, eager early adopters rushed to the search engine giant's site to give it a try.

But some of the more savvy were stopped when they read something called the EULA - the End User Licence Agreement. That's that endless series of conditions most people ignore as they download a program they want off the Internet. It spells out the terms and conditions of use of the freebie and what you can - and can't - do with it.

But Google added a bizarre clause that seemed to suggest anything you did with its new Chrome wonder would be their property. "Any Content which you submit, post or display on or through" the browser belongs to Google, it read.

That led to outrage from the web community and a quick fix from the company. They quickly reworded the text, leaving the rights in the proper hands of the browser's users.

A company spokesperson explained the odd statement by saying, in effect, it was a case of saving time.

Apparently, someone from the Internet giant simply copied and pasted a previous EULA into the licence for the program and then put it out on the web that way, even though it didn't quite match the conditions they intended.

...........

I dunno..Chrome need major improvements...very poor execution!! I know it's new but it sure screams "INCOMPLETE'..

Tabs at the top suck and its just so basic and uninspiring that I'm really thinking I won't use it again..

FireFOX...FTW!!! whaaat

Hehe. That's funny. I should start reading EULA's:rolleyes:

Lol read them bah!
I think someone posted on CF who actually read it but that's funny.

I chose no in the pole if anything i'm going to wait until a stable version will come out even then, why should i trust google considering the previous EULA? I think this mite be a little of a downer to google. :P

They can say it was a mistake...but...

big brother is watching us!!!!

Ha.
Yeah, i'm going to decide never to use it, i bet if anyone reads this a lot of people wont use it because you never know what they integrated into chrome that can invade our privacy!

Wait. What? Microsoft? Dominant? Noooo. :)

What?
Oh yeah, they say Microsoft is dominant because most users don't really know what a browser is and since internet explorer in integrated into windows most of the cyber population think that's the internet...

I bet half of the cyber population hasn't even heard of Mozilla... :(

Mozilla FireFox FTW! :D

IE dominant,???

Thats like saying Netscape Navigator was flawless.....

Actually, the truth is Internet Explorer is dominant... :(
But, the only reason it is, is because the normal home user with little to no computer knowledge doesn't know what an Internet Browser really is. Hell most of them think that's the internet for example if you have an Internet Service Provider such as Rogers and you just bought a computer pre-loaded of course you wouldn't know that IE isn't the only way to get connected to the internet. If your wondering why i chose Rogers as an example, it's because they have this feature where you don't have to log on to the internet it's always on.

But i'm still going to stay with FireFox. :D
