Google Earth on Ubuntu Linux

I am using Ubuntu Linux and when I went to the Google Earth download page I downloaded the Linux version of Earth. After I downloaded the .bin file I tried to open it and a message popped up with an error that said that it could not be read. How should I be using the file differently?
