Google search on Home page

I apologise if I have asked this question before.

I really want to have Google search as my home page. It did say go to Firefox settings (my favoured browser) but I cant figure out how to do this.

At present when I open my Firefox browser I get a blank screen with a Google PNG image in the centre.

Could someone kindly advise me how I can get the Google Search on my home page please.
