The Problem is still there! 2 OS shown but only want one in the bootup OS menu

Hi!
I have got 2 hard drives with OS on both, great huh?. not really i just want OS on my 80Gb ATA not on my 160Gb hard drive. But I have tryed formating the drive when Ive been in the 80Gb HDD Operating System, but when i reboot the bootlog still has it listed as two Windows Professional XP:s instead of one (cuz the other one i formated) right?
- I have already tryed to fromat the hard drive, but dosent take it away.

It be nice if someone knew a way for this to be solved?
Hope Ive been clear anought! ;)

Thanks anyway!

//Anthony :)

on desktop or the start menu, depending on how you have it set up, you should see an icon called "My Computer". Double click it. in there will be ll of your drives. right click your 160GB hard drive and select properties. it will bring up a pie chart of how much space has been used and how much is free. post back on here how much space is free and how much is used.

Where did you format the drive from? There should not be 2.27 GB used. Go to drive manager (right click my computer->manage->device manager) and try formatting it from there if that's not what you did already.

yeah but Ive got xp on it

I thought that you wanted to have XP on your 80 GB drive and not on your 160 GB drive hence the reformatting.

I just when in on the e: right clicked format... and fomated the harddrive but it dosent help

But the thing is that when i format it comes up 2 OS on the bootlog, like Ive still got it there??
If 2 GB are still being used there is something there (unless you put other files on the drive already). I'd say try formatting it again (make sure its not the quick format). Try the method I mentioned, though it really should do the same thing as what you did.

You mean:
My Computer >> Manage >> Device Managar >> Disk Drives >> Uninstall

Are you shure i should uninstall... sounds abit risky to me?

No, its device manager->disk management (under storage). It should show all the drives and all the partitions. You'll be able to right click the drive and format it.

Okay, this is an answer from Praetor so if it works you can thank him, if it doesn't you can blame him (note: you should probably do #4 first :P):
1. boot up to the drive you want....
2. find the boot.ini file
3. delete the entry of the other drive
4. MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A BACKUP OF THAT FILE

IF you delete the wrong line
1. Youll need a 2K, XP or 2K3 disk ... boot up as if you were going to install....
2. Goto the recovery console
3. Overwrite the boot.ini file
4. Try again and delete the other line

Hey! I knew i recognized that question :P

Quote from the forum:
"A easier way is . . from msconfig, open Boot Ini . . click the "Check all boot paths" button and if one comes up invalid, check the "delete invalid boot paths" option."
Bingo, nice and quick ... thanks for tracking that down! :)
