Got a problem

Im trying to connect an extra monitor to the computer. I already have an old Optoma/CTXEzPro 620H LCD projector. and have a dell flat screen monitor connected to computer. Im trying to add a old Dell Trinitron to see an actual image of what the projector is putting out. Therefore I put a splitter on the VGA output and connect the projector and old monitor to it and have the flatscreen on DVI. But the problem comes in when the monitor doesnt get a signal or something. The fact is i get a black screen on it. Any suggestions?

the video card in the machine might need to be setup for that. what kind of card is in it? you could try using the device manager and looking up the display adapter and see if you can configure it there. if its an ATI or Nvidia card, then they should have their own utilities that come with the drivers, and if you dont have the utility, you can try to find one for your card on their websites.

Specs

Sorry about that.. I forgot to include computer specs.

Manuifacture: Dell
Model: Inspiron 530
Processor: Intel Core 2 CPU 4400 at 2.00 GHz
RAM Memory: 1022
DOS: Windows Vista 32-bit
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS

Anything else you might need to know?
I have already explored pretty much all of the settings in the windows utility and in the NVIDIA one, but i did not do it throughly.

Oh and BTW the attachment is animated layout.

I've heard that using splitters like that sometimes doesnt work. have you tried unplugging one of the monitors and trying that way? sometimes it wont read as 2 displays unless they're in separate outputs. the splitter is technically 1 output, and it might choose to go to 1 or the other (probably the closer of the two).

But see, thats whats so weird.. It chooses the one the farthest (the projector).. Maybe there is less resistance that way. I think i may need to find a monitor with the same resistance or fine tune the splitter to the proper modifications. But also when i turn the projector off or just un plug it, the monitor works..
