got it down to two choices, help me choose please!

I have been searching for a few weeks now and have got it down to two choices. They are both 599 and i just ran into a few difficulties. first i should tell you what laptops i am speaking of: the Gateway NV5905H and the Acer Aspire AS5741-5193. Acer has a slightly better processor and processor speed and also has an LED backlight, but i do not know if it has DDR3 ram like the Gateway does. And that is the end of my limited computer knowledge. :)
Also if anyone knows the reliability/efficiency of the brands, it would be quite helpful. I am only going to be using this for school and home mostly as i will be starting university soon. THANK YOU! :D
 
I say you're comparing apples to apples here. Acer and Gateway are the same company (along with emachines). I don't see model numbers right off, but they look very similar and specs are nearly identical minus a minor difference in CPUs.
 
i agree with rest but i will state that both laptops are ddr3 since on the intel core i series they only support ddr3 due to the memory controller being Integrated on chip

i would say, out of those two, go for the acer not the gateway
