GPU and PSU upgrades. Your thoughts?

The 8800GT and Q6600 will work well together. The PSU is poor quality and insufficient for your needs. Look at the Corsair 620W .
 
The corsairs are way too expensive.
What is wrong with the psu. Just because it is a smaller brand doenst mean its worse.
 
Have to agree with Python on this. If it does live up to its specs, it is a average (if not a tad below average) power supply. 8800GT does not also consume much power. I'd look into the hec Orion 585W's.

Heck, I have a $25 PSU powering a HD3850 + a OC'd E2140. Two video cards running tres monitors :) (Not saying you should skimp out on the PSU). I'd look for a PSU with a minimum of 600W and at least 30A on the 12V.
 
So is this PSU a safe bet. will it cause any damage.
Will it fit onto a nvida 610i chipset.

And the main question should I buy it.

That PSU is only ATX standard and doesnt meet the EPS12 2.91 standard. This means in short that 12V+1 is dedicated to the CPU, leaving only 16A (or 20A depending on which part of the text you read - lol), for the whole of the rest of the system. Insufficient for a PCIe system running a G92 core.

It is very low quality, efficiency and doesn't have any over voltage, undervoltage, solid capacitors, etc etc etc. Either way the 12V rail is too weak, and very very poor quality.

Its a POS, but by all means go for it, but you will regret it. You get what you pay for.

Yeah I have to agree with u now Bigfella
Any suggestions that would meet my requirements for £50. or $100.
I live in the UK so prices in pounds would be good.

Anyone else got any PSU suggestions.
