The other day I came to turn my computer on, however I had no luck in getting a video output or any signs of a normal boot up procedure, after checking that it wasn't the monitor or cable I replaced the 6600 with an old 5200 which I knew works. Anyway this fixed the problem and the computer was up and running again. However just to check the 6600 I popped it in to the computer I pulled the 5200 from and I got the same problems. The 6600 is two years old and has been overclocked for about 70% of its life, although I reset the clocks to default recently because I was getting system event log messages that stated the clock were being stepped down due to temperature, although I always thought the temperatures were fine, and never went anywhere near the critical temperature. So it looks like its blown but if anyway can suggest otherwise I would like to hear, because I don’t really want to go buy a replacement to only find that it actually wasn’t dead.
On the topic of a replacement I’ve found this. {BTW my motherboard only supports AGP}
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Inno3D-Nvid...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1206181021&sr=1-4

This seems to be very good value for money, especially as I don’t want to replace my whole computer in the next 12months, I just want to get it back to a standard it was before and anyway a 7600GT would be a good improvement. The 5200 is too slow and rubbish for me to consider keeping and anyway its needed back in the other computer I pulled it from. One thing I would like to bring up is the extra power this 7600GT would need, from the pictures it looks like it needs a 4pin molex power connection? (am I right?) this is the connection that would power an IDE Hard drive for example. cause I know I have one free.
Cheers
