Im here for advice once again! (feels like im asking for advice wayyyy too much) but so far advices from forums has been awesome XD so here i go again...

So i RMA the MB and got a new one (same asrock extreme4) and out of no where one of my mate wants my sapphire hd 6950 2gb so he can test xfire with his own at his offering decent money as mine is fairly new....

So with that money i want to buy a new card xD since upgrading is always fun!
Im looking into geforce rather then radeon and 670 caught my attention and there seems to be different versions of the card...

I dont do rendering stuff or graphic intensive games... Pretty much play wow and with 6950 had no problem infact i had 90 plus fps most of the time except when there are alot of players (40 to be exact) and my fps would drop down to 30ish... So would 670 be over kill for this game and be wasting my money?? Or should i just go cheaper cards that are better than 6950 (if any)?

Why do you want to go Nvidia? They are completely overpriced this time around. They are matched or beat by Raedons that are lower priced with 12.11 drivers.

If you don't need much of an improvement all you would need would be a HD 7870 or HD 7850 (6950 should fall somewhere between them). If you absolutely must have Nvidia, then you only really need a GTX 660 or GTX 660ti.

Even the hd7850 should beat the hd6950.
You could see it like this:
Performance: hd6950<hd7850<gtx660<hd7870<gtx660ti<hd7950 (1920x1080 and lower res they're equal)
Price: hd6950<hd7850<hd7870<gtx660<hd7950 (< most of the time)<gtx660ti
Decide, but I wouldn't let your feeling to buy from nvidia win against facts of price/performance.
A hd6950 should be enough for you, but if you really want to upgrade take a hd7870 or maybe a hd7950 so you don't have to buy a new one pretty fast. (The hd7850 would only be a 8% improvement btw)

Actually i wanted buy a 670 and already saved up for it (around 450) and i am looking at galaxy or asus or evga and out of all galaxy has the best review for some reason with best price as well so i think ill pick up one of those 3 since i wont be able.to upgrade for a while after that and small upgrade isnt worth upgrading lol

and according yo review superclocked 670 versions are close in performance with an normal 680 so im really looking forward to it without heavy price tag

Just realised $450 i can pick up evga 480 SC 2gb version...
And 470 4gb version is the same price???
why is that not saying ill pick up and 480 but if its only plus 50ish for 480 from 470 4gb version why not??? Plus 4gb vram is useless for me any way??

Where are you getting your stuff? It's a wayyy overpriced :S.
You can get most 670's for only 380$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709%20600315498%20600311820&IsNodeId=1&name=GeForce%20GTX%20670
With your budget I'd recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125439
It's owns the gtx680 in most test and lets the gtx670 alone.

Ill definatly look at 7970 as well if its the same price range im really not in any rush to buy them since its a big sum of money but will definatly buy it before end of this year...

Ive been reading alot of professional reviews fron tomshardware and other review sites and.all of them seems to point towards 680... To be exact at 1080 resolution and for gaming gtx 680 out performs HD 7970 from stock setting for both cards....

yet to find an article that says 7970 "owns" gtx 680 if u can give me more details on exactly what you mean?
And hopefully u dont mean asus 7970 because thats wayy out of my price range =S

If your plan is to run at stock, don't bother with 670/680 or 7950/7970 because you are wasting your money. At stock speeds HD7870 is the fastest you will need.

If you are willing to Overclock, the 7970 OCs farther, and can far surpass the 680 at a lower price.

Again, staying stock, the 7870 is your card.

Nobody went back and reviewed them but the amd cards got a performance driver update that made them better at the games that have always been better on nvidia, so now they are way better since they were tied before that

Ah i did see the posts where dated few months back but i didnt know drivers made that much difference? But i guess it does!
so any reference design or manufacturer u would recommend for 7970? Pref best bang for buck?

It says in your signature that you use 6950, correct?

If you're jumping to GTX 670, you probably won't notice too much of a difference. That's the exact same jump I made and don't notice any difference really... (even though I use GTX 670 FTW version @ 1006MHZ)

ah really... So it comes down to 680 or 7970 then

and is galaxy a good manufacturer? Because it seems have really good reviews on it and with reasonable price..

Galaxy is definitely not one of the most reliable and respected brands but I think it would probably be okay. If you're looking in to OC pick a different more trusted brand but just running at stock clocks you'd probably be okay. Me personally would save the few extra dollars for a better brand but that's up to you.

The hd7970 Ghz ed. is cheaper and ocs better.
Actually it even beats the gtx680 in most games, even on 1080.
In most reviews they're picking the games especially optimized for nvidia in the charts.
look on anandtech, half of the tested games are won by the readon.
And like jonnyp said, amd's updated driver increases performance especially in the games where nvidia won/wins.

Shouldn't be too bad...

ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, EVGA are probably the most reliable so far? I think :P

+ XFX and Sapphire if going for the hd7970. (Ghz is really nice, new drivers made 10% performance increase in some games)
And nvidia is pretty much overpriced atm. I can get an hd7970 ghz ed. for 345euro!

Id pay more for drivers that aren't hit or miss at times and a card that doesn't suck juice like a fat kid on a hot day :P *0.02*

As a user of AMD graphics cards, and 12.11 drivers, I whole hartedly agree. Nvidia is a much better choice, and the price is worth it. (heaven help you suggest them though, as everyone and their brother will start bitching about AMD being cheaper and faster).
