I am interested in graphic cards which improves the overall performance of the system other than just graphics.
Does all the graphic cards improve the performance of our everyday applications like WinZip, Video Conversion, Video playback.....
Do I need to select some special card, NVIDIA says you need to select Tesla cards. What about AMD????

for some things, depending on what programs your using, it will help/ such as video encoding that uses hardware acceleration, or cuda. nvidia are good cards to use for adobe software, since they use cuda tech., which can only be found on nvidia cards. other than that, it wont help with anything else other than gaming. sure it will free up your ram which will help with system resources, but unless your using programs that support the card to be used as part of its renedering, or gaming, you wont notice a difference.

pretty sure that's mostly marketing BS and really we can't recomend a card without know exactly what you want as most of what you said should easilly be done by an igpu or a low end card. so what are you wanting and what is your system currently?

I told my requirement in post #1 '...overall performance of the system other than just gaming graphics...'.

Right now I am using a low end system running PentiumD.

and there is no use for any graphics card when you're using that old of a processor, it's the problem, why not upgrade it?
