Just to make sure, if you have a PCI-E x16 slot, you did buy a PCI-E video card and install it in the correct slot, right?

And you can also tell us what specific card you got.

yes dont know much about pcs sorry but yes i took the old one to the shop and got this one it fits the slot ok16 slot pci, ive put many of graphic cards in before but this one is a problem,

do i need a certain amount of memoy or anything on my computer for the graphic card, im not to sure hw much memorys on the comp as its a friend and as i cant get it to turn on im stuck

You only need like 256Mb of ram or even 128MB for a graphics card to function properly, in fact your graphics card should function no matter how much ram you have, and since you have a PCI=E slot I don't imagine it to have less than 256 Mb of ram. You can check how much ram you have by taking out the ram modules, it should be printed on there.

The drivers don't kick in until after the boot screen nffc10. lynnuk said that he/she didn't even get post to show up, so its definitely got nothing to do with drivers. lol

ok it has 256 ram and the graphic card it 256 but still wont turn on just getting the monitor signal i cant install the drivers because i cant get the screen to turn on grrrrrrrrrrrr xwhat am i gonna do i also just put a new power supply in to but i thought i smelt a bit of a burning smell also

make sure you didnt shock it when you took it out of the package. Because it can happen. Make sure its right card for the right motherboard slot ! thanks and have a good one.
