Graphics and SSD question

I am looking into a gaming laptop to support autocad and 3D model viewing. I am looking at the following: i7 4710 processor, 16GB memory, 128 SSD +1TB hard drive and NVidia GTX 970. Is bumping up to 256 SSD and NVidia GTX 980 something I should really consider or not? Cost of upgrades would cost about $400.00 when configured so.
 
You can't put a GTX 970/980 in a laptop, but I'm guessing you meant to say desktop.

Not worth the 980 unless you're gaming. The 970 will be just fine, and you can get a 250GB SSD for about $120 now so if you need to increase storage then you always can :D
 
Thanks for your comment C4C. I am talking about a laptop and can order many of the most popular brands with the GTX 970 or GTX 980 graphics card.
 
You can't put a gtx 970 or 980 in a laptop. Those are desktop cards not for laptops. Now if you are talking about 970m or 980m then yes, those are mobile video cards.
 
Not sure why everyone is being so picky, I know what you are talking about. Personally I would if you have the money to opt for the 980 as those are more powerful and may buy you a extra year or two of high performance.

The SSD you could always upgrade later and if you have a spare computer you can always clone so you don't have to go through the process of a fresh install. This would probably be more cost effective and you could put a better quality SSD in.
