Graphics card for Win7

Is a GeForce 8400 a sensible card for Windows7. For example is it compatible, and I heard Win7 has DirectX11 features so will this graphics card support DirectX11 features ?

Please help and suggest, thank you very much.

Well the 8400GT is a older card so it is not very powerful but yes it will work with windows 7 and no there is not a card that supports DirectX11 yet and probably won't be for a little while. If you are looking to buy a card then the minimum you should be looking at is a ATI Radeon 4670 or a Geforce 9600GSO.

They are a bit too expensive for me, I just want a card better than my current VGA card.

Are you running on the onboard graphics is so what kind is it. Also what is your budget and do you live in the us. What kind of power supply do you have.

you shouldn't need a dedicated graphics card at all. You may not be able to have the bells and whistles that make it pretty, but it will work absolutely fine without, if they made it so that you NEEDED dedicated graphics then microsoft would be losing a huge chunk of the market that only have a small budget, they are greedy but not stupid.

If anything it is less strenuous on the graphics card and CPU than vista, an 8400 would be fine with it

Windows 7 is no fun without Aero, and the 8400 would be plenty to run it.

Games, however, would be a different matter. That's a low end card and
wouldn't max out many games, if any.

Well thats ok then because I don't game alot on the computer anyway. And all the games I do play on the computer are browser based internet games. And by the way I live in England and my bugest is about £30-£35.

I think the GF 8400 iswhat I need then.
