Graphics card problem (freezing etc)

Hey all, recently purchased a Gigabyte GeForce 9800GTX+1GB and it works great... when it works.

Now when I play games (Empire Total War), my comp has started to freeze, showing red lines over the screen. The only thing I can do at that point is to turn the computer off.

I have installed the latest drivers and everything. I checked my temperatures and the GPU temp when it last froze was only 56 degrees.

Now occasionally, it freezes showing red lines even when I'm not playing games.

Anybody know how I can fix this? :(

Specs:
Amilo La 3420-22P
Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Phenom Triple-Core 8550, 2,2 GHz
4 GB DDR II 800Mhz RAM

Hmm... i would check to make sure the power connectors are in tight, card is seated properly, and also... what power supply are you running?

Checked what I assume was the power supply.

ATX 3025-HEN
AC input 200-240V
DC output +3.3V +12V2
Total output continuous should not exceed 250W
Peak load 300W

I think this is it. Just checked, the recommended PSU for the card is 450W.

I'll just get a 500W one, they're quite cheap, and that should fix it. Thanks all! :D

If you haven't already bought it, please post a link to the one you are looking at. Just because it is rated at 500w doesn't mean that its going to perform the way you want it to.

These new graphics cards require alot of amperage on the 12v rail, and if that psu has low amps you might have continuing problems. I'm not sure what the 9800 requires but my 4870's require at least 32amps on the 12v rail. And your card is similar so I would imagine you need at least that much.

And yes, I noticed I posted this in the wrong forum, I had two tabs up. :S

Thats a solid power supply. It will work fine. You wont be able to SLi two of those 9800's, but itll power 1 just fine.
