graphics card problem

hi, i bought a new graphiccard , but when i insert in in my pc my monitor stays black. i already tried updating my bios.

and the graphiccard i bought is a gainward 9600gt 512mb

You did hook the monitor to the graphics card and not the integrated on the motherboard correct? Also, are you using the stock power supply? As a 9600gt would need more than a stock HP power supply.
