Graphics Card Problems..

I just purchased a nvidia geforce 7600GS graphics card. And, when I try to install the drivers is doesn't work . I know my computer is powering the card because if I put my hand underneath the card I can feel the breeze from the fan. I inserted the driver disk (from MSI) and instead of options giving me what drivers to install, I see nothing. no options or anything. But all the other tabs are working just fine (for example i can choose MSI utility). I tried downloading drivers from nvidia. But now, when I try to install it says the Nvidia program can't find any drivers for my hardware.

Please Help!

Thanks.

the bus type is PCI Express btw, This also the first graphics card I have ever installed so forgive me if it's an easy fix.

i believe i found the problem, if it doesn't work. ill say it doesnt work in another post
thanks

EDIT:

Alright, I'm pretty sure I found out what was wrong. I believe I need a more powerful PSU. I re-inserted the card and the case fan started spinning EXTREMELY fast, and all I got was a black screen.

Am I correct? and is it hard to install a psu? Or a new fan?

Ok,

I have plugged the monitor into the graphics card and I see the "Dell" logo flash on the screen, and then it doesnt work. How would I install the drivers if i can't see anything?

_______ _ _ _ _ _

UPDATE- THE MONITOR IS PLUGGED INTO MY ONBOARD GRAPHICS, NOT THE VIDEO CARD. THE FAN IS SPINNING ON THE VIDEO CARD, BUT THE DISC STILL WON'T LET ME INSTALL THE DRIVERS. IF I TRY AND PLUG THE MONITOR INTO THE VIDEO CARD, I GET A BLACK SCREEN

please help

sorry for the anixousness, i know it can get annoying. I've just been waiting to finally get a graphics card for a year and really want to get it set up

The 7600 series are fairly low power cards, so I doubt that's your problem unless you're really loading the system down with other things...

When you boot your PC, you have your monitor connected to the 7600, correct? Do you see anything under Device Manager regarding the card? "Standard PCI Adapter" or maybe unknown... Select it and you should have an option to reload the drivers. Direct it to where the INF for your card is located. If you download the drivers from Nvidia then open the downloaded file, it should extract files to C:\Nvidia\.

Normally all this isn't required with Nvidia's drivers, but i can think of many times that these pre-made installer packages havn't worked. Quite common with motherboard drivers and such :-/

When I turn the power back on on the monitor, pc etc. (by plugging back in) I get the Dell Genesis logo (just an ad for the brand of monitor). When I turn the pc on, nothing appears period just a black screen and the power light on my monitor is orange, when it should be normally shining green when it detects a signal from my computer and displays images.
I checked the inside of my case and the graphics card was running, because the fan is spinning.

Thank you for the response!

Well do you hear any beeps coming from the motherboard? A blank screen on boot can be caused by many factors such as faulty component, motherboard, graphics card or monitor. I think you should rule out the monitor for by plugging it into another computer and testing it to see if it works. Then after you have ruled out your monitor then test your graphics card, but putting it into another system which works and see if you can a signal.
You would have to work systematically to eliminate the working components to get to the heart of the problem.
