Hello. I just wanted to know should i chane my graphics card to a better one. I am using a gtx 660 right now and i have been playin a few games recently such as minecraft and seem to be getting around 60 fps. One of my friends has got a gtx 670 and he gets around 200 fps.. Now thats a huge diffrence. I wanted to know if there is any point of upgrading my gc to a 670 or even a better one. Maybe i should leave this one? I have a pretty good windows 8 pc i7 processor. I dont know and can u please give a price for the gc?. Thanks.

Minecraft is one of the worst games for benchmarking. It performs drastically differently on different machines for reasons beyond just your specs. I've had times where it runs at 120fps and other times with a clearly better machine and getting 50fps.

You're not really going to notice much of a difference at all between 60 fps and 200 fps on a Minecraft. Especially if your monitor is at 60 Hz, which is pretty likely.

The 670 is more powerful yes but I personally wouldn't upgrade to that unless you have other games where you can see a visible difference in the gameplay. At frames that high you're just chasing a higher number and bragging rights.

What other games are you playing?

You get 60 FPS on Minecraft with a 660? My friend gets 120+ with a 7770. He actually just ordered a 660 today as a replacement (for other games, not MineCraft).

Like Denther said, Minecraft is a terrible representation of what a GPU is capable of, and you won't notice a difference between 60 FPS and 200 FPS because 1) your monitor is probably 60hz, and 2) the difference is so negligible it's pretty much impossible to tell anyway.

However, if you're getting low FPS on other games, that's a great reason to upgrade. New 670's are hard to come by these days, so I'd go with a 760, which is basically a revamped 670 (Found Here). Although, if you've got the money, you should get a 770.

WRX Thanks man... Vsync was causing the fps drop. I don't even know what that is :P I'm getting 100-160 fps now. Back to the topic.... I've got one monitor 1920x1080. Should i get a better graphics card or should i keep the 660?

I was thinking to buy the gtx 770 or 780 but which one is a better deal and which gc would be compatible with my motherboard? IPMMB-FM. Could someone maybe give me a link.? Please :O

1 more question I have a pretty bad psu. Internal 460W (100V-240V) :P If i got the gtx 770 or 780 would i have to change my psu??

Haha I figured that was the case. Vsync keeps the FPS maxed at your monitors refresh rate, which is usually 60Hz (hence 60 FPS). It's to prevent the tearing effect you get when moving around quickly with high FPS.

I'd advise getting a power supply. 460 watts, especially from a low quality brand isn't a great idea with a card like that.

This would be a good choice and allow you to upgrade to basically any kind of setup with only one video card.

I wouldn't upgrade the video card unless you feel like you're being held back in games. What else do you play?

A 660 is a capable GPU and I'd be suprised if you needed to upgrade. But you should go ahead and get a quality PSU.

It won't affect performance at all, but powering a PC that uses a decent amount of power requires a quality PSU, which you don't have.

So if i get a really good psu it will not affect the performance? It will just be able to power everything if i decide to uprgrade my gc to a better one?

Thanks :)

Yes, you got it spot on. Plus the chances of your psu failing and your pc going with it are lower if you go for a higher quality psu.

An underpowered PC will result in lower performance, not just damage and shut-downs etc.. Low voltage stability causes heat, which down clocks GPUs, RAM and other motherboard components, so yes, if your are currently under powering your system, you will have degraded performance. Whether that amounts to actual FPS, is dependant on how bad you're underpowered.

But essentially, yes, you need a better PSU.
