Graphics Problem with Dirt on Ultra

I put the settings on Ultra and look at the pc components i have. I started a race and the graphics were worse than on High and there was a shadow like a cloud constantly following me. It's like my system can't play it on Ultra but i know that my system is nice enough. Anyone know what's the problem?

May be a stupid question but you have installed your graphics card drivers right?

and updated ones?

ya, unless the cd it came with didn't have the latest on it

The ones on the CD would probably not be the most recent version. Get the most recent drivers here. (Nvida)

It should work Ok, I have it on Ultra settings and it runs fine and looks great, Try some newer drivers.

I've been running it on Ultra with the shadows turned down to high and the res at 1200x800 60 refresh rate. It gets this weird shadow everywhere and every once in a while, the game will smoothly slooww down, then speed up again...what's that about? it's not that big of a deal but with the setup i have, it doesn't make sense.

You have a background application that is eating your CPU! Check your Task manager's process tab to see which program it is..

Just a guess
