Graphics to tv

Notebook

Hi
Looking to purchase a gaming pc for my son. He has a Samsung LE26R88BD 26" HD Ready Digital LCD TV that I want to use as a monitor.

Resolution 1366 x 768

Inputs - 2xHDMI, 2xSCART, 1xComponent, 1xPC

Looking at ebay system
SLI with 2 X 8500gt cards system either intel or athlon.

I telephoned one of the sellers to be told that most motherboards dont have a HD connection, and connecting using component or PC connection will be fine.

Is this true?

SLI - is 2 cards better than say a higher specced single card?

Would the graphics cards have to be a special type to have this connection or are there readily available leads out there?

Component or PC - which is best?

Is the tv suitable for this use, or would monitor prove better? Didnt really want to spend the cash!!

Looking to play crysis? unreal tornament 2007?

Thanks for the help

Two cards in SLI will never be better then a single card of which is a model higher.

You should have a cable that came with the TV which is called a HDMI cable, if one didn't come with the TV it will come with any video card you buy with a HDMI output.

"I telephoned one of the sellers to be told that most motherboards dont have a HD connection, and connecting using component or PC connection will be fine."

I am not sure what you talking about here, but if you have a video card that has a HDMI out put you will be able to connect it to your tv, also (I havn't checked for you) but you tv probably has a DVI imput (the one you use for most monitors)

In my opinion, I think you will find better quality and quality for money with a 22" wide-screen.

Oh yeah and buying a pre built pc is stupid, post a topic in "Desktop Computers" asking for help with a build, make sure you out line what brands you prefer, and how high-end you want the specs to be for most components.

Hi
So I need graphics cards with a hdmi output to connect tothe hdmi socket?

What about this?

1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GT Super+
1GB of GDDR 800 MHz ( 400 MHz DDR2 )

Two dual-link DVI outputs support two 2560x1600 resolution displays
NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology
HDCP capable
Innovative Cooling System
Built for Microsoft Windows Vista

No mentiopn of a dvi input in the manual - dont know what they look like either.
Have built pcs in the past, but ahve also suffered a few times when you turn it on and nothing happens - whats wrong? - motherboard - cpu - ram etc
Nightmare!!!
Therefore I thought it might be easier to buy one prebuilt.
Thanks for your help

Rubbish. At high resolutions and max AA/AF, an 8800GT SLI setup will devastate a single 8800 GTS.

I just did a setup for a guy a couple of days ago. He had a 42" Samsung LCD and I hooked his computer up to it. A standard VGA (Dsub) connection worked awesome on it and it was crystal clear.

Some LCD screens have HDMI or DVI. Use the DVI if it has it, otherwise the VGA is fine.
