Grounding Question

I usually use an anti-static strap, but now i've lost it! Can anybody tell me what people mean by "unpainted metal". I don't know if it's painted or not!

Metal that is not covered by paint, such as the grey interior of a case(most cases are galvanized inside, however zinc conducts electricity well enough to dissipate a static charge).

Is it true that it's best if you don't work on carpet?

yes, you want to keep away from working on carpet as much as possible as carpet will help build a static charge. Ideal surfaces to work on are concrete, tile, hardwood floors, vinyl floors, etc. Also, you dont want to work in just say, socks. Either socks+Shoes or barefoot when working with electronics.

Thunderbird doesnt work with hotmail iirc, i already use thunderbird for my domain email acccounts.

Not seeing any recent messages, only messages in my hotmail account are ones referring to a few other forums and some prereleased products.

So what's your email account. Thunderbird did say the email wouldn't work but it's the one on your page.

Just copy down the one for my windows live messenger account name and see if it works(bomberboysk@____.com), don't want to post it here on the forums for spam reasons.
