GTA2 is the best GTA you will ever play. Ever. Seriously it is the greatest, just do the first level seriously and then on the second one do the every gun cheat and money (hey it's awesome), you can put guns and stuff on your car and do that. It is seriously the most fun ever.
 
They mention on the site that they made some changes to make it play nice with new pcs. Good luck.

GTA 2 works in Windows 7 x64, but I have yet found a way to run the game in widescreen let alone at a custom resolution.

I'm downloading GTA 1 as we speak and I'll report on how well it works in W7.

I just checked out the gameplay on Youtube - and that game looks frigging old....!!! Like Donkey Kong old - or Atari 2600 old.

What year did these games come out?

All of my games I own are a year or 2 old - b/c I like inexpensive gameplay - but this freebie pales compared to the GTA 4 I was expecting to compare it to.
 
GTA 1 & 2 are from 1997 and 1999. I still have my original copy of GTA 2 somewhere as well as the big cardboard box it came in.

Same. I never really use to understand what was on the box, the whole taxi and dude and scope thingo, because (since I was... 7 or 8) it was a game where you look above, I thought it had nothing to do with the game, but it still looks cool.
It is seriously the best GTA ever IMO.
 
I haven't been able to get GTA 1 to work in W7 yet. I'm having the same issue I had with Vice City, the game keeps minimizing a few seconds after maximizing. I got Vice City to work by running it in Windows 98 compatibility mode. However, that doesn't seem to work with GTA 1, no matter what OS compatibility mode I try.
 
Thanks to the OP.

I downloaded GTA2 out of curiosity and thought it looked a little lame b/c of the old as dirt graphics. But I've played it a little bit the past couple of days - and it's pretty fun to play - now that I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Fun won't last forever I'm sure - but for now - thanks for the freebie.:good:

Curious - is GTA original or the 3rd game worth downloading. I only went for the GTA2 when I downloaded mine.
