GTA IV on Steam

Okay so some of you may have seen my recent post about the problems ive had with GTA IV and windows live,It seems im getting nowhere as far as support is concearned so it looks like il just have to go and buy another copy

This time though i was thinking of getting it on Steam but i have some questions.

Does GTA IV on Steam require activation?
because you already purchased it on steam so obviusly its legit.

How is GTA IV on steam? Reliable? does they automaticly update GTA IV with the latest patches?

GTA on steam auto updates, if for whatever reason it hasn't you just press verify game cache and it will.

When you first install the game with steam you'll go to open it an it'll bring up a little rectangle white box which says connecting to activation server (something like that) It sends some stuff in and then lets you play.

You also have a game code.

I've installed the game at least 3 times so far with no problems, however I haven't made any hardware changes

But what about windows live,do you also have to put your cd key in for that?

Because i dont want the exact same thing to happen to me again after purchasing a new copy...i will explode with all this anger!
