Did they ever sort it out. By that i mean all the gameplay issue and installation issues, was it fixed by a patch or anything?

Thinking buying it as i love playing gta games on pc because the graphics look sweet and things like draw distance are drastically improved.
 
I've never had a problem with GTA IV its a good game. You do however need a pretty powerhouse machine to run at good graphics although draw distance and things can taking a while to update when driving fast (but i would say this is poor game coding over anything else). I finished both GTA IV and Episodes of GTA IV i'd say it's worth buying especially if you like GTA games and as it's so cheap now.

Even I did not face any issue with GTA IV.
But GTA IV EFLC has a better story.
And you should definitely try out the mods available for GTA IV.
 
GTA IV and EFLC have had many patches fixing bugs and performance issues. If you're into modding the game one of the earlier patches works best (I think it's 1.0.3.0 with the latest being 1.0.7.0 I think)

but the game runs quite decently on the latest one. Still a huge CPU hog though. Loves cores, and fast cores.
