Gta:San andreas laggy

Alright people,

I just got Gta:San andreas for pc off a friend for nothing...He doesnt play it anymore so he gave it me which was very nice of him:D

Anyhow it plays horrible...I dunno if its just my system showing its age but i would have thought my system was more than capable of playing it.
My comps played more demanding games like Doom 3 & Prey so why does it play so bad on my pc?

Heres the recomended system requirements for san andreas:

For a smooth gaming experience, Rockstar recommends a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP, 384 MB RAM and a 128 MB graphics card. An Audigy2 soundblaster and a gamepad are also recommended.

I think my system is better than that recomended?^^

It just lags realy bad which makes it unplayable and the multiplayer is even worser:D

Ive even tried the lowest graphics setting with no Anti aliencing or whatever its called and still its the same.
 
Make sure you have installed any patches as necessary and also make sure there are no other programs running in the background. Furthermore, check your drivers for your video card as well as your sound card.

Oh, and yes your system is more than adequate to handle that game, one other thing to check, bring up the game and then alt+tab out and hit ctrl+alt+delete. See what your CPU usage is at and what's using it.

Alright il try and see what patches there are now and do what you said...

Well i instaled the latest patch and its still the same.

I took a screenshot of my ctrl+alt+delete screen to See what my CPU usage is at.........

lol thats not showing your CPU usage, its showing your RAM usage :P

Go into the performance tab, thats where it shows you, it looks like this:

 
Nah the Cpu usage was just at 35% so could it probably be memory?

The game loads fast when i start it.
 
Also if you have not already, sweep your system for spyware, and try disabling your anti-virus.
 
Okay guys,

I done what you said and its still the same:mad:

I have set all graphics to low,Reselution to 800x600 as it wont change anyway for some reason.
Antivirus disabled,Drawing distance set to lowest.

I dunno why the heck it wont play..My comp plays everything else i play like Warrock (On highest settings no problem) and its played games like Far cry,Doom 3 and Prey all fine on Low/medium.

Looks like it just doesnt wonna play:mad:
I have noticed though it only realy lags when i get in a car and try to drive...If im on foot & running its fine but when i get into a car or something its realy bad.
 
try turning the resolution right down to 640x480 and the graphics quality down as well. i can play it on full every thing with anti aliasing and at 1400X900 or something like that. also try updating all your drivers including video

Hi Dean...

I cant change the resolution...It just stays at 800x600 for some reason.

However i have not updated my Graphics drivers so maybe i should try that.:rolleyes:
